After
spraying the basecoat, your graphics, stripes
or flame job is applied, normally leaving a hard
edge. This is the first 4 layers of the paint
job.
When
clearing over the graphics or flame job, the clear
coat follows the contour of the surface, thus
still leaving an edge, however it is much softer
after its been polished. This is usually about
the 8 th layer of paint on the bike.
For our premium paint jobs, we
bypass the wet sanding, and machine sand the surface
down to a flat finish. 3 to 4 coats of clear coating
is applied thus making the total coats of paint
up to 12 layers. The surface is then wet sanded,
buffed and polished, giving you the ultimate paint
job. The extra coating will give more protection
and depth of color, and also the surface of your
bike will be as smooth as ice.
This
whole process of an excellent paint job requires
perfect timing and professional experience. If
the paint is too dry when adding extra clear coats
it may flake and crack under exposure to the elements.
If the paint is too wet, it will run and ripple
when went when drying the surface may also wrinkle
or become rough. All our premium paint job are
of the highest quality and perfectly finished
to ensure a super smooth finish.
