Export CJ750:

All of our Chang Jiang 750 sidecars for export are from PLA inventory. There are only a few dealers in Beijing or in China that actually assembles and customizes Chang Jiang 750 sidecars from PLA inventory and offers them directly to customers.

The PLA has thousands of Chang Jiang 750 sidecars in storage waiting for you. Since the 1960’s Chang Jiang produce over a million Chang Jiang 750 sidecars for the military. Today there is still a large inventory of Chang Jiang 750 sidecars in warehouses never used. We have even seen an M72 from the 1960’s in the original crate never used. Importantly most of the parts available in Beijing are also military/PLA surplus parts.

The primary reason export Chang Jiang 750 sidecar are from PLA inventory is that civilian Chang Jiang’s have VIN numbers that allows them to be licensed. These licenses have a residual value and sometimes more than the motorcycle itself thus it is more cost feasible to use PLA stock which is bought from the PLA as old surplus. The Chang Jiang 750 factory also no longer manufacturing any new Chang Jiang 750 sidecars thus it is easier to refurbish military parts than to actually manufacture new parts. In cities such as Shanghai the license for a Chang Jiang 750 sidecar can cost up to 3,000USD.

There are dealers that currently do sell "new factory" assembled Chang Jiang 750 sidecars, do note that these Chang Jiang 750 sidecars are rebuilt from new frames and also old parts. These dealers bikes are not allowed to be imported into some countries, you can read about it on Australia's vintage vehicle import scheme. Our recommendation is that you purchase a Chang Jiang 750 sidecars from a dealer that actually builds them because:

1) The actual Chang Jiang factory line for sidecars has not operated since 2002. Currently the factory CJ750 are built by small shops that have relations to the factory and use their licenses and permits, so the only thing really new is the "VIN" number, and that is only good if if you need it licensed in China.
2) The assembly of the CJ750 is not done by experienced builders and the amount of attention paid to building these sidecars may not be as much as a local builder in Beijing.
3) Factory "new" Chang Jiang 750 sidecars are not test ridden to ensure that everything works properly when it leaves the "factory".
4) The lack of quality assurance in assembly and also of parts because you will be thousands of miles away, there is not much recourse when its a lemon. If you are living in Beijing it may be safer because it may be under warrenty from the shop and you can always take it back to the dealer to change it for free.
5) The "new" Chang Jiang 750 sidecars may assembled from used and worn out parts, so actually a "new" Chang Jiang 750 is really a refurbished Chang Jiang 750 and you just never know the quality.

Read our FAQs carefully and you will understand the market in China and also the Chang Jiang 750 for export. There are shops in Beijing that restore Chang Jiang 750 sidecars from PLA stock and Big Bill's Bikes have a very large inventory of sidecars. Check out our quality and prices and we have even include pictures of our inventory for you to see.

Two important documents issued in 2011/12 regarding the import of Chang Jiang 750 bikes to Australia by two brokers that do not restore bikes from vintage PLA bikes - A must to read if you are in Australia: Austalian Import Reg, Vehicle Registration Scheme:

Big Bill's Bikes Chang Jiang 750 sidecars for export are rebuilt from inventory that has very little mileage and that are in excellent condition. Most of these Chang Jiang 750 sidecars are from the 70’s 80’s. and some from the 90s. All of our export restorations are from PLA surplus inventory.

Big Bill's Bikes strips every Chang Jiang 750 sidecar down to the last screw and along with all the paint and rebuilds them from scratch. All the engines are taken apart and checked to ensure that all parts are in excellent condition. We use PLA parts for export as there is a large supply of these parts available and at reasonable prices, actually there is no difference in the Beijing market here with old PLA parts or newer parts because the PLA sells their inventory of Chang Jiang 750 sidecars as surplus and there are still large amounts of old bikes lying around.

Check out the details of our rebuilding in our customization page and you will see why Big Bill's Bikes is the top shop in Beijing when it comes to restoring and customizing Chang Jiang 750 sidecars. You can now own a part of history with one of our PLA Chang Jiang 750 sidecars customized to your specifications.

Our motto is: No BULLSHIT! There is no need to overpay or buy a shoddy quality Chang Jiang 750. We have no fancy story, just quality work. You have heard about the low Beijing prices, we are the only shop in Beijing willing to offer these prices to customers on the net as we offer to our customers in Beijing.

If you have any questions or need references please drop us an e-mail.

If you are a true PLA Chang Jiang 750 enthusiast, do notice that we have a special PLA page for you and the price is the same. Please read it to find how much PLA goes into a Chang Jiang 750.
